Individuals receiving housing rehabilitation funds through the City of Columbia are eligible to receive a free home maintenance guide book (1 per household). Other attendees may purchase a book for $25.

The public is invited to the Grand Opening ceremony for Columbia Fire Station 9 at 1:30 PM prompt at Columbia Fire Station 9 located at 201 Blueridge Road, at the corner of Blueridge and Providence. Scheduled to speak is Fire Chief William Markgraf, Mayor Darwin Hindman, City Manager William Watkins, and 2nd Ward Councilman Jason Thornhill along with the architect Erik Miller. Following the remarks, the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will perform a ribbon cutting ceremony and then we will "house" the fire truck, Quint 9.

Refreshments will be served and the Happy Days Band will provide musical entertainment during the event. Tours of the fire station and information on the Percent for Art project to be installed this spring will also be provided.

Parking is very, very limited and there is no parking on Blueridge Road or Providence Road. We invite you to park in the large parking lot at the Grace Bible Church, one block east of the Fire Station. A shuttle bus will run roughly every five minutes between the Fire Station and the church.

As part of our continuing efforts to ensure the safety of residents in Columbia and Boone County areas, the Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will host a Weather Spotter Training Session.

The session is open to the public and designed to train volunteers to be weather spotters for our area. This includes teaching you what to look for and enabling you to provide vital information in times of severe weather. Weather Spotters are a vital first line of defense when it comes to the safety of our residents.
