If your child loves nature and the outdoors sign up for this camp! Camp Adventure strongly emphasizes awareness of nature and the environment. The activities encourage use of the senses, development of curiosity and a healthy dose of "FUN". Activities may include canoeing, fire craft, outdoor cooking, swimming, archery, first aid, arts and crafts, hiking and outdoor games. Some activities are restricted by age and not all activities are offered at each session. Enrollment is open to children who will be starting first grade in the fall of 2012 and includes children who have completed 7th grade.

The Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce our affiliation with Dennis Goettel, PGA Professional, to provide golf instruction at our facilities. Our goal is to impart students with the knowledge and physical movements needed for a repeatable golf swing.

The accomplishments Dennis Goettel has obtained over the years are numerous. His playing achievements include MO State Amatuer Champion in 1977, Gateway Section PGA Champion in 1978, Gateway Match Play Champion in 1979 and qualified and played in the 1980 US Open Championship. In 2006, he received the honor of Gateway PGA Teacher of the Year and followed that distinction with 2007 Gateway Jr. Golf Leader. Dennis has lived in Central Missouri for the past 30 years.

The Sho Rei Shobu Kan school of Goju-Ryu follows the traditional Okinawan philosophies of strengthening mind, body and spirit. This tournament will involve forms, sparring, weapons and light competition. All ages and belt ranks are welcome to compete. Foot and hand techniques score. Point areas are chest, stomach, side of body and head gear area. There will be no face contact under brown belt, no groin contact and no ground fighting. Trophies are awarded to 1-5th place along with grand champion trophy and black belt cash award.
