White-tailed deer can adapt to a variety of different kinds of habitat and are found from grassy fields to forests to wetlands and salt marshes. They feed on leaves and twigs, as well as acorns. This large, reddish-chestnut or gray mammal is an excellent runner and jumper and uses these skills to escape from predators.
