Columbia Water & Light's Efficiency Score

When it is time to buy a household appliance, you can easily view how much it will cost to operate it with the bright yellow Energy Guide label. Columbia Water & Light is using this same approach for homes. Columbia Water & Light’s Efficiency Score shows your home’s energy efficiency rating and your home’s estimated annual energy costs.

The Efficiency Score certificate shows you, and future buyers of your home, the value of your energy efficiency upgrades.

Your home is compared to itself and the maximum cost-effective efficiency possible (100%). The Efficiency Score is modeled using the U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Energy Score. The maximum energy efficiency is based on recommendations that provide a 10-year payback or less. Annual energy costs are based on equipment efficiency, size of home and number of bedrooms. Actual costs may vary due to weather, shading, occupant behavior, number of occupants and home maintenance.
