    This class is for you if you missed out on the experience of learning to ride a bicycle as a kid. Learn in a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment with techniques developed specially for the first-time rider. Class size is limited so register early to reserve your spot. This class will have you riding with friends and family before you can say "whee!"

    Equipment needs: bicycle, helmet and a fun attitude!

    Please meet in the northwest parking lot at Twin Lake Recreation Area.

    318101 - Two Wheeled Tuesday Rides

    Ready to move off the trails and onto the roads? This is your chance to ride in a small group setting on a variety of Columbia's bike routes and trails. Ride leaders will cover short cuts to popular destinations, trail connectivity and tips to help you go by bike. All participants must have intermediate riding skills. Helmets, front/rear lights and a spare inner tube are required on all rides. Plan to take a different route each week with approximately 90 minutes of riding and stops to chat along the way.

    Location: First ride starts at the playground at Flat Branch Park. Start location will vary for each ride.

    Registered participants will receive updated emails with full details and/or check weekly updates via Facebook at CoMoParkandRec.

    318102 - Katy Trail Ride to Coopers Landing

    Cooper's Landing is a river port and marina located on the Missouri River at the historic site of Nashville, MO. It's also alongside the scenic Katy Trail just down river from "BoatHenge." Join GetAbout Columbia on a leisurely 16 mile (32 miles roundtrip) trail ride. Pack a picnic lunch or order from Chim's Thai Kitchen (on your own) as your reward. Return with the group or at your own pace. Participants should ride self-supported with an extra inner tube, air pump and water. On-trail ride support for minor maintenance issues will be provided. Helmets required.

    Reminder: Parking at Scott Blvd. Trailhead will be closed throughout the 2014 summer.

    City Cycling teaches the skills you need to ride safely and responsibly in traffic and around town. This comprehensive course has something for everyone - even the most seasoned cyclists. League of American Bicyclist certified cycling instructors will lead classroom discussion, bike handling skills and on-road group rides. Equipment needs: bicycle and helmet. All participants will receive a free gift to help keep you going by bike. Class size is limited so register early to reserve your spot.

    Are you interested in commuting by bicycle to work or school? This one hour seminar will provide tips on adding nonmotorized transportation to your daily routine. Discussion will include: bicycle selection, apparel, equipment options, route planning and responsible riding techniques. Registration is suggested but not required. All registered participtants will receive certificates for one 60-minute, customized "bike buddy" clinic offering personalized, door-todoor commuting consultation.

    Young riders will learn the basics of mountain biking and road riding skills while making new friends and exploring great trails. Goals of the program are to improve bike safety skills and to instill a passion for cycling as a lifelong skill.

    Ability Level: Participants should have intermediate road or trail cycling skills and be comfortable shifting gears and riding 5+ miles!

    Equipment Needs: Mountain bike, pare inner tube, helmet, bike gloves and water bottle. Bike shorts are encouraged.
