    - Hub systems: wheels, bottom brackets & head sets
    - Wheels and Truiing
    - Drive Train, ears and shifting
    - Brakes: maintenance and repair

    218206 - How to Bike with Kids Workshop

    Gina Overshiner and Rachel Ruhlen, League of American Bicyclists certified cycling instructors and experienced cycling mothers, will reveal tips on riding with young children as well as how to create the next generation of traffic smart cyclists. Parents will learn about navigating streets in a variety of traffic situations (including when to ride in front of or behind your child) and kid friendly buzz words. Classroom discussion will take you from the cradle to college in teaching your children how to be safe, responsible cyclists. This parent-only class offers fun and creative ways to incorporate recreation and utilitarian cycling into your weekly family routine.

    The ARC Kid Zone is available for child care for children 6 months to 10 years of age. Child care for two hours is $2.25 for ARC members or $3 for non-members.

    Repairing a flat tire is an essential skill for any cyclist. Take the time to become comfortable with this task and you will not regret it! Instructors will cover flat repair, inner tube replacement and proper tire inflation. If time allows, instructors will also discuss minor brake and shifting adjustments. This is a hands-on class.     318101 - Two Wheeled Tuesday Rides

    Ready to move off the trails and onto the roads? Ride with us in a small group setting on a variety of Columbia's bike routes and trails. Each ride is approximately 10-11 miles long at a comfortable pace of 10 mpg. Ride leaders will cover short cuts to popular destinations, trail connectivity and tips to help you go by bike. All participants must have intermediate riding skills. Helmets, front/rear lights and a spare inner tube are required on all rides. Plan to take a different route each week with approximately 90 minutes of riding and stops to chat along the way.

    Location: First ride starts at the playground at Flat Branch Park. Start location will vary for each subsequent ride.

    Registered participants will receive updated emails with full details and/or check weekly updates via Facebook at CoMoParkandRec.

    318104 - MKT Secret Access Trail Ride

    Are you new to town or maybe just starting to head out on the trails? These monthly 11-mile round trip rides will introduce cyclists to Columbia’s backyard gem: the MKT Trail. Ride leaders will travel at a leisurely pace highlighting access to popular retail locations, neighborhoods and the Hinkson Creek and County House Trails. Helmets are required. A front and rear taillight are recommended.

    Join us for a 26-mile loop ride around the City of Columbia. Plan to ride a mix of both soft surface trails, bike lanes and streets with low to medium traffic volume. Participants must have intermediate on-road riding skills. Staff will provide SAG (support and gear) for minor maintenance issues. Please make sure you are self-supported with an inner tube (correct size and valve type) or patch kit and water. Helmets required. Optional: Lunch (on your own) after the ride at Shakespeare's West-discount for participants. Registration suggested.

    Young riders will learn the basics of mountain biking and road riding skills while making new friends and exploring great trails. Goals of the program are to improve bike safety skills and to instill a passion for cycling as a lifelong skill.

    Ability Level: Participants should have intermediate road or trail cycling skills and be comfortable shifting gears and riding 5+ miles!

    Equipment Needs: Mountain bike, spare inner tube, helmet, bike gloves and water bottle. Bike shorts are encouraged.

    Class size is limited so register early to reserve your spot.
